Tatjana Smith wins for South Africa in Paris
Tatjana Smith claimed her second medal of the Paris Olympics but missed out on a golden double after finishing second in the final of the women's 200m breaststroke. Smith, the defending champion from the Tokyo Olympics, was looking to add the 200m crown to the 100m title she won on Monday. But in a tight contest it was the USA's Kate Douglass who ultimately pipped her, having led for the majority of the race and making the most of a series of strong turns.

Dricus Du Plessie moered Israel early Sunday at UFC305 in Australia

 came prepared and returned his title as champion of the world.
He was accompanied by Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth two South African rugby legend.

The fight felt evenly matched, with both combatants getting good shots and combos in throughout. But Du Plessis turned the tide suddenly.

He landed a vicious left to Adesanya's head, and shortly after followed it up with three strong rights to the head. He pulled Adesanya down and locked in a rear-naked choke. Adesanya tapped, giving Du Plessis the submission win at 3:38 of the fourth.

SPRINGBOK BEAT AUSTRALIA BY 30-12

It was not pretty in the rain and muddy conditions but ugly wins are also wins and the so-called ‘second stringers’ got the job done, with the help of the impressive Bomb Squad in the second half.

The Springboks didn’t have the perfect start as they dropped the ball from the kick-off in the rain.

The Wallabies had a strong scrum and launched their attack, followed by a penalty afforded them in front of the Springboks’ poles.

Noah Lolesio knocked it over and the home side took an early lead.

Johan Grobbelaar’s first throw in the line-out was hopelessly overthrown and things seemed to start shaky for the Boks.

The second line-out was also not ideal and Ruan Nortje had to rescue it.

SOUTH AFRICA vs UGANDA 

20 August 2024 – Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 38-member preliminary squad for next month’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.

 

Broos’ charges open their AFCON account when they face Uganda at home at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 06 September 2024 (6pm), and then they travel to South Sudan to play their second match in the group on Tuesday, 10 September 2024. The final 23-member squad will be announced in the next few days.
