"I had no choice to use some of my NSFAS food allowance money to fund my film project" said: Xolani Rolland Mbelu.

An independent filmmaker who has studied at Tshwane University of Technology  graduated with a Diploma in Film and Television Production (2021),Advanced Diploma In Motion Picture Production (2022)and Post Grad Honours In Motion Picture Production(2023).

I am a solo Film maker who has done projects independently so the ones that i am currently promoting and the ones I have done years back.

I am currently working on a Youtube show named "The world of Art" which is on youtube coming to an end season with 10 Episodes. The world of Art it a show that showcases people's work especially in the art industry for example you may be a film maker,actor,musician,Painter,Jewellery maker, Dancer.

The main aim of this show and the platform is to expose the artists in different ways for them to get more work and make a living out of their arts and talent.

Therefore the show has 10 Episodes with seven Uploaded on youtube and 3 are yet to be uploaded.

This episode was shot by 3 Males and 1 Female.

Xolani Mbelu who is the Creator,Artist Researcher ,Producer ,Director ,Editor and Sound mixer.

Mbulelo Katise AKA Mac Loud - Who is a Legendary actor from Generations (SABC1) Jinga ,Scelo from Scandal (E-TV) , Duma Jama from (The Queen) .

On the world of Art show he is the Character Researcher,Art Director and Presenter.

Khutso Nkadimeng - The Director of Photography ,Marketer and Online Editor.

Mokapelo Moloia -  Social Media Mananger ,Subtitler and Soundmixer .

However the show has been done with no funding or anything from any institution. We only shoot from our own pockets. In which one day we wish to receive funding from the Department of art and Culture or other institution.

On the Second Part, The company Owned by Xolani Mbelu Black House Entertainment has done a project that us currently being promoted Named Abandoned (2021) Which was the first ever project done by the company independly with no funding whatsoever.

The interesting part about this project is that it was done by NSFAS money from the University. The NSFAS money was supposed to be used for Student grocery but due to passion Xolani Mbelu saw as an opportunity to self fund himself to make his first film that will polish his skill.

The film Abandoned (2021) features The Legendary Lady Sibulele Gcilitshana who we know her from Soul City and Xolani Ngcobeni from Uzalo and Isibaya and many other Tshwane University of Technology students who were in the drama and film and television department.

The process of this film was hard because of finance it is still hard even today but Xolani is trying by all means to distribute it to Independent Cinemas E.g The Biscope Cinema in Aukland Park. on the 10th December 2023 which it received a positive number of views.

Xolani is currently working to distribute the film to local cinemas like your Kwamhlanga Community Hall in December and Etc.
